A magical cruise on the Rhine
The day begins with a bus ride along the west bank of the Rhine to the enchanting town of Bacharach – a town that looks as if it stepped out of an old postcard. We’ll visit the striking remains of the Wernerkapelle and hear the fascinating story of the Jewish community that flourished here in the Middle Ages, immortalized in the writings of Heinrich Heine. From there we’ll cross the river by ferry to the wine town of Rüdesheim, where we’ll stroll the famous Drosselgasse wine lane. In the afternoon we’ll board our ship for the grand cruise north along the Rhine. We’ll pass the legendary Lorelei rock and hear the tale of the nymph who blinded the eyes of sailors. The day ends with a visit to Rheinstein Castle – a genuine knights’ castle perched on a cliff, with a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire Rhine valley.
An immersive walking tour of Mainz
A walking tour through the heart of the city where Ashkenazi Jewry was born and where the printing press that changed the world was invented. We’ll begin on the Rhine promenade with an easy walk along the river, opposite the passing cruise ships. From there we’ll reach the market square with its magnificent 16th-century Renaissance fountain, and Gutenberg Square, with the famous statue of the printing press inventor and the National Theater building with its iconic glass roof.
The highlight of the tour is the new synagogue “Ma’or HaGolah,” a groundbreaking work of architecture shaped like the Hebrew letter “kuf” – a symbol of the Jewish revival in Mainz. We’ll finish with a walk through the alleys of the ancient Jewish quarter toward the pedestrian promenade.
A trip to Frankfurt
We’ll visit the historic Römerberg square – the heart of the old city, with its picturesque half-timbered houses and impressive city hall. We’ll cross the famous Iron Bridge, which offers the best vantage point over the skyscrapers reflected in the Main River. We’ll pass Goethe’s House, birthplace of the great poet born in Frankfurt, and the cultural square with its elegant opera house, one of the most beautiful in Germany. We’ll finish with shopping and leisure along the famous Zeil promenade, one of Europe’s most popular shopping streets.
A trip to the ShUM communities: Worms and Speyer
A moving, deeply meaningful journey to cities declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the cradle of Jewish culture in Europe. A full day in the footsteps of the great Torah sages of Israel, ancient synagogues and a thousand years of Jewish heritage.
In Worms, city of Rashi and the Maharam, we’ll visit the ancient synagogue, meticulously rebuilt; we’ll see the famous “Rashi’s chair” and the impressive 12th-century mikvah. On Jew Street we’ll stop before the small rounded recess in the wall – the spot where, according to legend, Rashi’s mother was miraculously saved. We’ll also tour the Jewish museum with its rare manuscripts and ritual objects, and pay a moving visit to the “Holy Sands” cemetery, the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe, beside the graves of the Maharam of Rothenburg and the great sages of the generation. From there we’ll continue to Speyer, where we’ll visit the “Jewry Court” complex with the remains of its medieval synagogue and one of the most beautiful and best-preserved mikvahs in Europe, built in a stunning Romanesque style.
Heidelberg – a Renaissance gem
We’ll ride the funicular up to the famous Heidelberg Castle – one of Germany’s most impressive works of architecture – where one of the most beautiful views imaginable opens before us. Inside the castle awaits the world’s largest wine barrel, holding roughly 220,000 liters, alongside the rare apothecary museum with its fascinating collection of antique vessels and remedies. We’ll also wander the picturesque alleys of the old town, pass the university and cross the Old Bridge, with a magnificent view of the river and the castle.
A trip to Strasbourg and Obernai in Alsace, France
We’ll stroll the picturesque alleys of Strasbourg, take in the mighty Notre-Dame cathedral, and visit the impressive synagogue – living testimony to the city’s illustrious Jewish community. From there we’ll continue to Obernai, an enchanting medieval gem with a lively market square, fine Alsatian wine and ancient Jewish heritage.
Colmar and the König winery – the Alsace wine country
We’ll begin with a visit to the kosher family-run “König” winery for tastings of fine Alsatian wines against a backdrop of endless vineyards. From there we’ll continue to Colmar, the jewel of Alsace – wandering its colorful alleys along the canals of “Little Venice” and visiting the impressive historic synagogue. A day that perfectly blends Jewish heritage, enchanting architecture and French cuisine at its best.
A trip to Baden-Baden, town of spas and the casino
We’ll stroll along the stunning, pastoral promenade, admire the magnificent casino – one of the most beautiful in the world, designed in the style of royal French palaces. We’ll wander the alleys of the old town with its luxury boutiques and charming cafés, and finish with the famous thermal baths experience – perfect relaxation for body and soul.
A trip to Luxembourg
We’ll head west from Mainz through the green landscapes of the Rhineland-Palatinate region and arrive at Luxembourg – one of Europe’s most beautiful and refined cities. We’ll begin on the Chemin de la Corniche promenade, known as “the most beautiful balcony in Europe,” with a magnificent panoramic view over the Alzette River and the ancient Grund quarter nestled in the valley. From there we’ll continue to the Bock Casemates – a network of historic tunnels and fortifications carved into the rock, with a fascinating military story from the city’s very core.
We’ll continue to the magnificent Grand Ducal Palace with its ornate façade and changing of the guard, and to Constitution Square, where the “Gëlle Fra” (Golden Lady) monument stands opposite the mighty Adolphe Bridge arching over the green valley. We’ll descend to the picturesque Grund quarter, strolling along the riverbanks among the ancient houses and the tranquil village atmosphere – then ride back up in the transparent panoramic Pfaffenthal elevator, with a breathtaking view of the whole valley and the city’s modern bridges.
A special outing: the resting place of the Baal Shem of Michelstadt
On the eve of Rosh Chodesh Elul we’ll travel to the town of Michelstadt for a moving visit to the resting place of the tzaddik, the Baal Shem of Michelstadt. During the visit we’ll also tour the town’s historic synagogue, where a special prayer service will be held on the eve of Rosh Chodesh.

And of course, just a short drive from the hotel, you can head out – with the children or without them – to Europa-Park, Fantasy Land, the Titisee water park, the Todtnau alpine slide, a cruise on Lake Titisee, the Triberg waterfalls, a ropes park, the bird and monkey park, the cuckoo-clock museum, the glass museum in Wolfach and a wide variety of other parks, museums and attractions.
